REV. HUGH “:3;th M.A., 13.1) TRINITY CHURCH REV. “fiffffififfifififf‘z'fl B.A. THE UNITED CHURCH OF CANADA CHARLOTTETOWN Prince Ed ward island June 4th, 1938. The Quarterly Official Board decided that a joint letter from the Board of Stewards and the M & M Committee be sent to all contributors conveying to them the information show- ing how our Local and M & M funds are being sustained. Flrst, however, we wish to thank all for the very pleasant reception given every one on the Every-member canvass at the end of last year and to assure you that this was appreciated. The first half of the year will soon be ended and we would point out that during the canvass above referred to, pledge cards for 1938, to be paid weekly, were received as follows:- . 586 in all signed pledges to contribute towards LOCAL EXPENSES. 237 of the above have paid regularly and are right up to date. 233 of the above have paid in part only - leaving a balance still due. 116 of the above have as yet made no contribution. 425 in all signed for the M & M Fund. 186 of the above have paid regularly and are right up to date. 133 of the above have paid in part only - leaving a balance still due. 106 of the above have as yet made no contribution. You will readily see to which group you belong knowing whether you are paid in full to date, whether you are only partially paid up, or if you have not as yet paid any of the amount pledged. Should it happen that you are in either of the last two groups may we not ask 'you to please make a special effort to bring your contribution up to date. You may think that possibly your amount is small and does not make any difference but a large number of small amounts soon make a good sized total. The Board of Stewards is now carrying an overdraft at the bank and our receipts to date are iess than at the same period last year and they would certainly appreciate your aid in keep- ing the name of our Church in good standing. We believe that many who signed pledges hoped that they would be able to contribute during the year more than originally promised and we hope that will be the case in many instances as. even with all pledges paid in full we will still be under the needed am0unt required. The M & M Committee report a deficit against the same period last year of $167.93 and total amount paid to date of $1556.39 against our allocation of $6000.00. There are a large number who usually contribute in one lump sum at the end of year and it would greatly aid in solving the financial problem if these could contribute quarterly. We can only thank you for your promptness in the past and assure you that war assist- ance, as requested above, at the present time will be of the greatest benefit. Yours sincerely.
