October 10th. 1939 The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Stewards of Trinity United Church was held in the Board Room Monday evening October 10th. at 7.30,p,x. The Chairman, Mr. R.E.Mutch, presided in his usual capable manner, and the following eleven-Stewards were present and in their accustomed places: Messrs. Claude Smith, Wm. Rix, J,Hibbert Bowatt, Vm.P. MacLeod, Reuel Le Page, Fred Chappell, G.A.Hughes, Reg Taylor, Cordon Avard, Dr. Ways and Jack MacNair. . V The Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and on motion adopted. At this point Mr. Mutch on behalf of the Board extended to Dr. Ways hearty felicitaticns and congratulations on hie recent marriage, and trusted that both he and Mrs. Faye in their Journey through.life together would be extremely happy. Some discussion then took place regarding the present unsatisfactory way the Daily Bulletins are being handled. Mr. Avard of the Publicity Committee was asked to look into this matter with a view of working outwa better arrangement for all concerned. ”‘ ‘The Coal question was the next matter discussed. Somevof our members felt we were paying too much for coal. As the Chairman of the Fuel Com- mittee, Mr. Carter, was unavoidably absent through sickness, our Chairman Mr. Mutch, said he would talk the matter over with Mr. Carter and report back at our next meeting. ' Mr. Claude Smith, Chairman of the Finance Committee and also Chair— man of the Every Member Canvas, produced a letter which he had the Secre- tary read to the Meeting explaining in detail our financial condition and the nature of the campaign to be inaugurated on October 23rd. Mr. Smith stated a copy of this letter would be.mailed*to all members and adherents of the Church several days prior to the cpening of the Canvas in order that everybody would be conversant-with our financial condition. He also asked the Board of Stewards-for their whole-hearted support in order that the_Every Member Canvas would be a 100% success.
