._// . , 9L ’ 21:: w ,1' REPORT OF SESSION V T o the Member; of T rinity United Church— ' We unite with you all in humble gratitude to our Heavenly 1 Father for His many and great mercies to us as a people during 1 the past nine months. The manifest presence of the Holy Spirit amongst us, bringing refreshing inspiration and guidance, pre- serving us in heart good will and peace with one another, and using us for the up uilding of His Kingdom at home and abroad, moves us to thankfulness and praise. The period under review was marked by the retirement of the- Rev.W. M. Ryan from the co-pastorate after a term of five years, in which he gave full proof of his ministry, and the coming to take his place of the Rev. Hammond Johnson who has already given us sufiicient evidence that he is a workman who needeth not to be i ashamed. The services of the Sanctuary have been conducted regularly - and continue to be largely attended. The ministers have received many assurances that these diets'of public worship have been an inspiration and comfort. We feel sure also that the mid-week prayer service has been helpful to those who have attended. In September we were favoured by a visit from the Rev. Dr. Endicott, Moderator of the United Church; and" in November our missionary in Korea, Dr. Florence Murray, now home on furlough, was with us for a brief time. We are expecting her for a longer period in June next. ' The number of both members and adherents of the congrega- tion continues to grow steadily. Seventy-two were added to the Communicants’ Roll in the nine months—thirty-two on profession of their faith and forty by certificate. Five were removed by death and two by certificate so that now the number stands at nine hundred and fifty-five (955). There were twenty-four children presented for Holy Baptism and seven adults offered themselves: for the same. ‘ The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper was observed four times. A large increase in the numbers participating was noted. The service of song under the able guidance of Prof. Fletcher and led by a faithful and efficient choir has been very inspiring and these all have won the gratitude of the members of Session and, .we are sure, of the whole congregation, not only for the heartiness and excellence of their music but also for the fine spirit of worship in which it was rendered. ' The broadcasting of the greater number of the Sunda ser- v1ces has given much satisfaction, as many appreciative litters show, not only to those of our members who are unable~ to come to church, but also to many throughout the Island and in the neigh- bouring provinces as well. This is a fine contribution to the growth of the Kingdom and it is hoped that it will be found possxble to continue it. i The work of Religious Education has continued 'to flourish and the Session is grateful to the large staff of faithful men and women who are sharing in this important task. Mr. G. F. Hut- cheson the Superintendent will at our request give a more ade- quate separate report. . The Silent Reaper has been busy among us. Twenty-four have finished their earthly career and their ashes been laid away in the "sleeping place” by the ministers of the congregation. To the sorrowing relatives we offer our tenderest sympathy and remind them that that morning cometh when we shall again see their “angel faces smile." Respectfully submitted, G. D. STEEL.
