4. Eustache Arsenault
One of the ten children of Jean-Baptiste Arsenault and Madeleine Gallant, Eustache was apparently born in RiviƩre Platte but his birth date is unknown. Around 1810 he married Marguerite Poirier, daughter of Jean Poirier and Frangoise Arsenault. They had at least nine children.
Together with his parents, brothers and sisters, Eustache settled in Abram's Village a few years after his marriage. In 1828, after several years of settlement, he received the deed for his 50 acre farm from the government. This property was passed on from father to son and eventually became the property of Uncle Joe (Cateline) and Aunt Josephine Arsenault, both descendants of Eustache. In fact, Uncle Joe was the son of Philippe, son of Alexis, son of Eustache, while Aunt Josephine was the daughter of Damien who was the son of Vital, son of Eustache. The old home, probably built by Vital, and which became vacant when Uncle Joe and Aunt Josephine moved to the Summerset Manor in their later years, was torn down in the winter of 1997.
