10. Léon and Marie Arsenault

Born of the seventh generation of the Arsenault’s in Acadia, Léon Arsenault and Marie Arsenault were both born in 1880 in the parish of Egmont Bay. The small community in which they were raised was simply known at the time as "Petit-Cap", but was formally named Maximeville around 1904. Both were raised on adjacent farms bordering the bay. They were baptized and married at the local St. Philippe and St. Jacques Roman Catholic church located some five miles from their homes.

Léon and Marie Arsenault around 1901.

Marie, daughter of Gonzague Arsenault and Philomene Arsenault, was born on 5 July 1880. The following day she was baptized by Father Cajétan Miville and named Marie Catherine, evidently for her godmother, her aunt Catherine (Catline) Arsenault. Her godfather was her uncle Félix Pitre. Léon was the son of Damien Arsenault and Emilie Gaudet and he was born in the fall, on 22 November 1880 and baptized five days later, also by Father Miville.
