10. Léon and Marie Arsenault

And she whipped, whipped and whipped. She whipped the bag until she could not hear a sound. She said:

‘Now he must be dead.”

She went to open the bag, she saw her two daughters and her plates! Everything was broken and the girls were dead. Oh, she was so angry! Little Jack came out from behind the door. He said:

“T'm the one who did it and now I am going away with the golden sheet!” He started running, and the Long-Toothed Mother went after him. And they ran and ran.

Being younger, of course, Little Jack ran faster. He ran away and she fell on a stump. She broke her tooth and she hurt herself so badly that she just stayed there.

This picture was taken around 1938 during one of Aunt Corinne's summer visit to the Island from New York. From left to right: Corinne (Arsenault) Gauntt, Marie (holding Robert Gauntt), young unidentified girl, and Frank (Billy) Gauntt.
