87. John A. MacDonald, a Ship Builder and Businessman trom Cardigan, served briefly in the Arthur Meighan government in 1926.
88. John Alexander MacDonald Jr. was a ship-builder, merchant, politician and politician’s son. He died suddenly in 1961 at the age ot 48, Struggling to pay debts after the depression.
89. Margaret MacDonald, the widow of John Alexander MacDonald, was elected in the subsequent byelection in 1961, after her husband’s death. She was re-elected in the General Election for 1962, but was defeated in 1963 General Election. She was also the first woman from east of the Ottawa River elected to Parliament.
90. James Maclsaac sat in the House from 1917 to 1920. Lawrence MacAulay, 1988-present, was the second person.
91. Hon. Daniel J. MacDonald of Bothwell died on September 30, 1980 while serving as the Minister of Veteran’s Affairs. His remains were interred at St. Columba Cemetery in Fairfield. Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau delivered the eulogy.
92. Daniel MacDonald of Bothwell was crossing the Senio River in Italy with his platoon from the Cape Breton Highlanders in December 1944 when a German 88mm. shell struck him. Surgeons were forced to amputate his left leg above the knee and his left arm. He returned to Bothwell, establishing a farm. He was elected to the P.E.I. Legislature from 1962-1972 and served for a period as the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry. He then served the Federal District of Cardigan from 1972- 1979, and 1979 until his sudden passing in 1980. He is remembered as one of the best Ministers of Veteran’s Affairs in Canada as he had a genuine empathy for the plight of a survivor of battle and instituted many reforms on their behalf. The Daniel J. MacDonald Building in Charlottetown is a memorial to his career of public service.

97. Walter Patterson had a brief affair with Peter Stewart’s wife, Sarah Hamilton, in 1783 while Stewart was ill with the gout. She departed the Island tor Quebec, but reconciled with husband years later. Upon her passing in July, 1828, she was interred in the St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Stewart was buried in the old Elm Avenue Charlottetown. 98. Dr. Peter A. MacIntyre was one of the most controversial
