Rick Jennings of the Souris Regional High School Spartans rapidly became a matter of interest when his first punt travelled 51 yards in the opening game of the High School Football season in 1973 in Montague. 47. Kent MacDonald of Little Pond and Ross Young of Red Point. Young was named for three consecutive years, 1981, 1982 and 1983. 48. Ross Young was a coach with the Atlantic Bowl Champions, the Mount Allison Mounties. The Mounties were defeated by the Guelph Gryphons in the Canadian Intercollegiate Championship in November, 1994.
49. They won the Potato Bowl in Charlottetown at MacAdam Field in their first-ever season of play, defeating the Charlottetown Colonels.

52. William J. MacDonald. MacDonald assumed many leadership roles in the military, sport and education. He coached a wide variety of sports, including baseball in his native Souris West. In 1963, he was named Lieutenant-Governor of Prince Edward Island.
53. Seatarers from the Gloucester fishing fleet would congregate on the Common (where the Souris Consolidated School is now situated) and play games among the crews.
54. Harry Bartholomew Hooper was born on August 24, 1887 at Bell Station California. He went on to play Major League Baseball with the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox from 1909-1925.
55. He was a part of the best outfield in major league baseball with fellow superstars Tris Speaker and Duffy Lewis.

In 1912, the Red Sox defeated John McGraw’s New York Giants tour games to three (with one tie), in 1915 defeated the Philadelphia Phillies four games to one, in 1916 defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers tour games to one, and in 1918 defeated the Chicago Cubs four games to two. He did not play in the World Series with Chicago.

George Smith of Peakes was a youthful catcher with the Peakes Bombers when they were formed in the early 1930’s. He was elected to the P.E.I. Sports Hall of Fame for his 50 years of passionate dedication to the sport.
