Eileen Smallman

1970-1972-1977-1981-82

Born to Oliver and Floy on October 14, 1929 in Travellers Rest, P.E.I., and was the second of four girls. Eileen’s strong work ethic was evident as she worked during her younger years side- by- side with her dad on their farm in Knutsford.

When she married Arnold in 1945, that same standard of work was instilled into their family of

16 children.

When they retired from farming, Eileen began a bakery with some encouragement from a friend and in her words “I was bored.” Another business she operated out of her home was a bed and breakfast where she warmly welcomed many guests over

the years.

Eileen’s faith and desire to serve was of paramount importance in her life. She was a member of the O’Leary Baptist Church and was involved with the Women’s Missionary Society for several decades. She was also an active member for many years and served as president of the Knutsford Women’s Institute. Eileen enjoyed hosting meetings in her home before the Institute had acquired the Knutsford School to use as a community meeting place. Eileen passed in November 2021 and will be fondly remembered as a lady that loved her Lord, selfless mother, great cook, and a kind and caring person. Even though life was busy on a farm raising a large family, she never shied away from participating in various roles in her church

and the Knutsford Institute.
