Harriet ‘Hattie’ Adams 1947- 1950
Harriet Amelia Adams was born on June 8, 1903, _ the daughter of Edward and Lois (Gard) Bryan of Foxley River, PEI. She married Raby Adams of Knutsford, in 1923, and they farmed their family farm in Knutsford, PEI. Raby and Hattie had three ‘ children namely Earle, Florence and Lorne. Hattie served as president of Knutsford Women’s Institute in 1947 and 1950.
She enjoyed quilting and knitting. She remained faithful to the motto of the Women’s Institute working for “The Home and Country” by knitting for the soldiers serving overseas during World War II and assisting with the maintenance
and preservation of the Knutsford School.
Hattie had a great sense of humor. She entertained the ladies after the meetings by reading the tea leaves that were left in their teacups. Many future childbirths,
deaths and fortunes were foretold in those tea leaves.
Hattie passed away on March 27, 1987and is buried beside her husband in Knutsford Cemetery.
