Marion Luxton 1957-1958
Marion was born on July 24, 1927, the daughter of Harvey and Edith (Hardy) Adams of Knutsford. She joined the Knutsford Women’s Institute while she was a Miss Adams in July 1945. At age 25 years, she married Lorne Luxton of Carleton Lot 6.
They had one daughter, Janet, and five
grandchildren.
Marion was actively involved in, beside her husband, Lorne, on the family farm, where they cared for her elderly parents until their death. She served as president in 1957-58, and also served as director, auditor, and has held all convenorships and served on all of the Women’s Institute committees. She has been on the executive of the Area #2 convention and was Red Cross convener. She became a Lifetime

Marion was active in serving her community in not only the Women’s Institute, but also in the O’Leary United Church Women’s Auxiliary and other community causes. Her house was always open for institute meetings and other community functions. She was a good neighbour and taught her grandchildren the values of
hospitality and community service by clear example.
