Silver Dennis

_ Silver Dennis was born in O’Leary, P.E.I. She a was one of three daughters born to James and a os Jane (Lidstone) MacDougall. She married Wilbert Dennis son of Harriet (Wedlock) Dennis and Locksbie Dennis. They lived in Knutsford where they owned and operated a

mixed farming operation. They had three sons,

Carmen, Keith (deceased ) and Dale. They were grandparents to eleven

grandchildren.

Silver joined the Knutsford Women’s Institute where she served in different

positions, including president, secretary and director. Always ready to do her part.

The KWI purchased the Knutsford schoolhouse and she worked hard on many fundraisers for what became the members Knutsford Community Centre. Also, she was a fine seamstress, being one of the main organizers for quilting bees for fundraisers or meeting the needs in the community. A funny thing happened at one of the member’s homes. A quilt was in the frame being quilted when it was

realized the scissors were missing. They were found sewed into the quilt.

Silver was a member of the Springfield West Baptist church and she sang in the choir. She taught Sunday school and was also a member of the Dorothy Duncan Women’s Missionary Society for 75 years. In 2014, she received a certificate of 75 years’ service for “Home and Country.” Silver passed away February 2016 at the
