Helen Adams

The members of the Knutsford Women’s Institute are honoured to give recognition to our sister member, Helen Adams by nominating her to the provincial WI Golden Book of Recognition. She joined our institute in December 1949. She was made a life member in August 1970.

Helen has capably served as president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, director many times over the years. She has served on all the committees and convenorships and on the executive of the area #2 convention. She was a participant in the first Roadside Cleanup and has continued to support this project for over 32 years. She is presently a member of the telephone committee. Her home has always been open for institute meetings and other community functions. Helen has provided fun and laughter for our group with her comical readings, jokes and humour. She also provided entertainment by acting in plays and skits and by sharing her musical talents.

Helen regularly attends monthly meetings. Many times, over, she has had perfect attendance. She is a faithful member of the O’Leary United Church where she served as an elder, choir member of the United Church Women where she served on the social functions committee. She is also a member of the O’Leary Senior’s Sunshine Club. Helen is an avid quilter and has willingly given her time and talents for the WI quilting projects.

She was actively involved beside her husband, Reginald on the family farm in Knutsford, where she still resides. She is the mother of three adult children, a devoted grandmother and great grandmother.

Helen is still an active institute member and presents well -prepared devotions and programs as she continues to work for “Home and Country.”

We, the members of the Knutsford Women’s Institute, are hereby recommending Helen Adams to be recognized in the Golden Book of Recognition.
