Silver Dennis The members of the Knutsford Women’s Institute are honoured to give recognition to our sister member, Silver Dennis by nominating her to the provincial WI Golden Book of Recognition. Silver is the longest serving member of the Knutsford Women’s Institute. She joined the institute on February 14, 1940. She was a life member on February 18, 1967. Silver has served in every capacity in the Knutsford Women’s Institute including president, vice president, secretary- treasurer, director, auditor, and was also active on the nominating, telephone, school and sick committees. In 1956, Silver was appointed as one of the first conveners of the O’ Leary Community Hospital Auxiliary. Again in 2002, she has accepted this role and once more is representing the Knutsford Women’s Institute in this capacity. She has served on the executive of the Area 2 district conventions and has assumed the roles as president and secretary on several occasions. She has always been active in all Women’s Institute activities, attending district workshops and conventions, local and provincial. Silver is an avid quilter, and always willing to give her time and talents to the WI quilting projects. She has been a promoter and participant of the WI Roadside Cleanup. Silver has canvassed the district for numerous charitable organizations, and she is a faithful member of the Springfield West Baptist Church. Over the years, Silver was active beside her late husband, Wilbert, on their farm in Knutsford, where she still resides. She still continues to work for “Home and Country.” We, the members of the Knutsford Women’s Institute, are hereby recommending Silver Dennis to be recognized in The Golden Book of Recognition.
