Blanche Woodside She shared her musical talent at Knutsford Women’s Institute meetings by playing the organ and leading singsongs. In earlier years music was an important part of the WI meetings. The organist was listed as one of the officers. Blanche attended the Provincial Convention in 1944. On her return she gave an excellent report to Sister WI Members. She attended the National Convention in Vancouver in May 1961. The Knutsford WI gave her $25 to help with expenses. The Agricultural Field Days were hosted at the Woodside Farm (Experimental Farm). Salad plates and deserts were served by the Knutsford Wl at the cost of $0.75 cents for adults and $0.45 cents for children. $31.44 was raised for the Knutsford WI. A life membership pin was presented to Blanche in October 1963. Blanche Woodside was presented with a Life Membership pin in recognition of services rendered. She became a Charter Member in November, 1928 and served as President and Secretary Treasurer and Organist; she has been President of the District Convention on two occasions, and United Nations and Letter Friends Convener on the Executive of the Prince Edward Islands Women’s Institute for four years. At the Annual Convention, she was presented in 1960 with a citation and corsage for initiating the Foster Parent Plan in Prince Edward Island for adopting orphans overseas.
