convener reported 12x14 pillows were needed for the hospital. Also, one pair of pillowcases were bought for the hospital. In December 1965, $1 was given to Dr. Hatcher to help hungry
children overseas. $3 was spent on gifts for white boxes for mental health.
In April 1966, the Knutsford WI displayed a 36x36 tea cloth at the district convention. It won a
prize from Salada Tea Company.
In May, roll call was opened with the exchange of plants and seeds. A thank you note was read from Etta Harris for a gift given on their 50th anniversary. In June Mrs. Eileen Smallman had a
pie-eating contest which caused a lot of dirty faces and much merriment.
Barbara Harris represented the Knutsford Women’s Institute in the Queen of the Furrow contest and it was decided to buy her a corsage to wear to the event. Also, plans were made for the
Ploughing Match Supper on September 13, 1966.
In 1966, the Knutsford Women’s Institute took two boxes of 120 tea bags to the boat races at West Point. A foam rubber pillow was bought for the hospital. March 1967 marked the birthday of Adelaide Hoodless, founder of the Women’s Institute. A birthday cake was presented by
member Orell Smallman to honour the 70-year-anniversary of the organization.
Books were given out to collect for the cancer fund in the district. A discussion on the making of a Unitarian quilt followed with all members meeting at Elva’s March 18. It was moved and seconded that flannelette for hospital sewing be bought - five yards of coloured to use for
pajamas and three yards for white nighties.
November 1967, Institute members served as greeters at the O’ Leary Community Hospital. The first Sunday was Helen Adams and Isobel Adams. The second Sunday was Freda Woodside and Mrs. Harry Adams. Third Sunday were Orell Smallman and Silver Dennis and the fourth Sunday
were Joan Smallman and Verna Smallman. A layette was completed and sent to the hospital. Eight face cloths were given as well. Joan Smallman passed in knitted sweaters and stockings for O’Leary Community Hospital.
Each member bought a little gift for their Sunshine Pal for Christmas. It was moved and seconded that they buy a gift for Donna Smallman in appreciation of her representing Knutsford
Women’s Institute on O’ Leary Day.
