The Secretary Treasurer reported $71.68 on hand. Meeting closed with a sing song.

Spring in Prince Edward Island is usually cold and misty, and it was no different in March of 1969. Ladies of the KWI continued to fundraise and send gifts of money to many

organizations: Salvation Army, Multiple Sclerosis, Cancer Society. Sewing was passed in for the Red Cross. A donation of $2 was passed in by Mrs. Dyment. It was decided that instead of a Show Your Sign project, each member would work on having names put on mailboxes in the district. An interesting paper on education was read by Mrs. Reggie Adams and Mrs. Robert

Woodside shared a paper on food poisoning. Lunch was served by committee in charge.

For the Easter regular meeting in April, twelve members answered roll call by displaying an original unique Easter Bonnet and articles for the auction. A letter on Agriculture from Mrs. John

MacKie was read by Mrs. Joan Smallman.

The president Joan Smallman read a letter of thanks from the Canadian Cancer Society. Correspondence was read and discussed. Mrs. Woodside reported from the executive that the District Convention was to be held at the Lions Club in O’Leary May | at 1:30, lunch to

be ham and salad. Also, an institute report would be sent to Mrs. Tom Duncan. The auction raised $5.68 and the prize for the Easter bonnet was won by Mrs. Elva Smallman.

The May meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Alvin Yeo. Later in the meeting, the hostess read a letter on Citizenship. Education and citizenship were built into the National Women’s Institute as well as agriculture. The citizenship course was a month- long seminar on women’s rights, citizenship and governance. There was no report from either the school or sick committee. The program was a reading by Mrs. Reg Adams on Male Fashions, and a flower contest by Mrs.

Avard Harris who also read a poem, Mother’s Love.

The meeting was adjourned, and a delicious lunch was served by the committee in charge-

Marion, Silver, Helen and Joan.
