Joan Smallman reported the bill for the fence was $130 and it was to be paid. Betty Sweet welcomed new member, Mrs. Bert Dyment, and the new executive for 1977. A new officer was added: a telephone committee. This was a new post in which the member, Harriet MacNeill, would phone other members to let them know any news such as change of dates, or plans pertaining to the institute in a timely manner. Meeting adjourned by singing The Island Hymn and having a delicious lunch served by the committee in charge. In October, the retiring secretary treasurer, Wanda Adams, read two letters from the Rural Beautification Contest stating that two awards had been won in Knutsford. The school building won first prize ($250), and $300 for the district was won by Mrs. Alvin Yeo.

In November 1976 a special meeting was held in spite of the bad weather. It was a meeting to

vote on the bylaws of the school building.

The meeting was brought to order by President Fairley Yeo. The bylaws were read and discussed and then voted on. It was moved by Joan Smallman and seconded by Orell Smallman that the bylaws be voted on separately by ballot. Wanda Adams and Verna Smallman were appointed

secretaries.

Number 1-4 were voted on and passed unanimously. Number 5 was to be deleted.

Numbers 6 12 were to stand as read.
