In December 1976, the final Christmas Concert held in a home took place at Mrs. Reg Adams house. Her home was beautifully decorated and the tree trimmed which added to the delight of the ladies who attended. Two new members were welcomed Hazel Ellis and Lillian Harris. There was a short discussion on the school bank account. It was decided that the money, $1000 be put in a short term deposit, and, that the school committee have the power to use institute funds, if

necessary, to be returned to the institute from the school fund.

In January the regular meeting was held at the home of Betty Sweet. President Fairley Yeo explained the Young Canada Work Program would be something they should look into regarding hiring a student for summer employment. Running water and electricity were eventually added to the school and the exterior and interior was painted by a summer student. One classroom was converted into a kitchen complete with fridge, stove, cupboards, dishes, table and chairs. And the other classroom was furnished to provide space for social gatherings, including bridal showers

and institute meetings. Windows and doors were replaced and the exterior was shingled.

In February, at the home of Mrs. Lorne Adam’s a newsletter was read from the Charlottetown office. It was moved and seconded that if Silver Dennis attend the spring district officer’s

workshop at the Crossroads Community Center, her expenses would be paid.

Orell Smallman moved that $6 be donated to the Law scholarship fund. The hospital convenor said that plastic combs were needed, and Empress requested that three quilts be made and to

charge no less than $55 each for them.

In March, the hostess was Mrs. Heath Woodside. The Co-op requested that the K WI cater a roast beef dinner for them. Isobel Harris Agriculture convenor gave an interesting talk on the topic on turnips. She also served turnip pie with whipped cream, and it was surprisingly enjoyed by all the

members.

Mrs. Kenneth Smallman held the April meeting at her home. Hospital Aid reported a panel of doctors was to speak on cancer at the Women at the United Centre in April. All were urged to attend. In April, Freda Woodside and Eileen Smallman were presented with the Life

Membership Pins and certificates. Fairley Yeo conducted a piece on Family Court entitled What
