Susie Smallman thanked the members and meeting adjourned with a delicious lunch and a time

for fellowship enjoyed by all.

The July meeting was hosted by Barbara Sweet. Roll call was answered with Sing, Say, Dance or

Pay. Lilly Adams played the mouth organ and Tillie Dyment danced.

In the old school, cupboards were installed and a sink was purchased for $68. Mr. George Meggison volunteered his time to put new arborite and extending the kitchen counter. It was decided to donate $15 towards swimming lessons beginning July 17. The hospital committee reported the thrift shop would be opening soon in O’Leary. Donations of used clothing were

needed.

Tillie Dyment reported the commode chair for the hospital was $68 when ordered but turned out to be $299 upon arrival. The members would look into some other item form of adaptability such as foam for rooms. Members not present were to be advised of all new business. They were to set up tables and supply enough stuffing to feed 250 for the celebrity dinner. Tillie Dyment offered

to carve the turkeys.

Lorraine Harris and Eileen Smallman reported speaking to MLAs George Henderson and Allison Ellis regarding parking at the school. The men assured them this would be taken care of. A letter from the district home economist requested the members to participate in Potato Food at the Potato Blossom Festival. The members moved and seconded that they do not take part. A report from Young Canada Works Project students said they were doing well. They painted the inside

of the school and they were busy writing the history of the community.

The meeting program was a model contest with members modeling what was in the bag supplied. Orell Smallman stole the show with her scanty bikini, followed by Tillie Dyment with her girdle. Meeting adjourned by singing O Canada followed by the Institute Grace.

The August meeting held at the school and hosted by Jean Harris. She reported that the O’ Leary Community Hospital was using the commode chair already and if they are permitted to keep it, they would appreciate if the KWI give a larger donation. This item is to be carried over until more information is available. Tillie Dyment reported sending a rose bow] to sister member Hazel Ellis in hospital. The program this night was “What do you think of your community and how can it be improved?” followed by a delightful lunch.
