oil tank and $25 was received from the sale of the old stove. The program for the evening, put on by Freda Woodside and called Why and Because, was enjoyed. Fairley Yeo gave a reading,

social time followed and lunch was served.

In October, the regular meeting of KWI was held at the community school. The meeting opened with the Mary Stewart Collect. Members were asked to make Santa Stockings for newborn babies at the hospital. Fairley Yeo moved that $25 be sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, seconded by Etta Harris.

The fall fair was to be held November 1. Joan Smallman passed around a paper with suggestions on what to bring. There is to be a carol singsong at the O’Leary United Church on the first Tuesday in December. Meeting closed with Thanksgiving Prayer by Orell Smallman.

At the regular institute meeting held at the school in November, a letter was read by Freda Woodside. It said that the K WI was to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Cancer Society for outstanding contributions and services. It was decided to host a hot turkey supper for members and their husbands at the school November 29. It was moved and decided by secret ballot the school not be rented out to people for parties and showers outside the district. Tillie Dyment asked members for contributions for the Red Cross sale to be held at the Co-op on Friday

November 23. Meeting closed with Lorraine Harris reciting the poem Jn Flanders Fields.

The Christmas meeting of the KWI took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Foster Smallman, December 12. The meeting opened with The Christmas Story and 19 members answered by reading scripture. Cards of thanks were received from the family of Mrs. Hattie Dennis. Cards for the senior citizens of the district community were to be sent out. The quilting committee was asked if they would consider giving quilting lessons at the school, but no one wanted to take on the task. Silver Dennis, Lorraine Harris, Helen Adams and Orell Smallman all attended the

meeting in Charlottetown to receive the Certificate of Merit from the Cancer Society.

It was moved to send $5 to the T.B. League. A devotional, Approaching Christmas from the Other Side, was read by Betty Sweet. The Miracle of Christmas was read by Helen Adams. Congratulations were given to Tillie Dyment on her upcoming 50th Anniversary on December 24. Sunshine Pals from the last year were revealed and new pals were secretly handed out for

the coming year. Gifts from under the beautifully decorated tree were handed out to each other
