note was received from the food talk team.
A special meeting was held on September 12 to discuss the school dishes. Members who attended - Freda, Isobel, Verna, Fairley, Elva and Joan. It was unanimously passed that because the dishes at the Co-op were not suitable at the quoted price, that the members buy what was
required and at the minimum price from Sears of $42.85.
Fairley Yeo reported on her attendance at the Media Resource Council Seminar in Summerside. A discussion on seat belt legislation followed. It was moved by Joan Smallman and seconded by Susie Smallman that the KWI not support the Medical Society on its mandatory seat belt legislation for reasons unknown or recalled by present members. Marion Luxton was appointed secretary on a secret ballot, and the motion carried. The dishes were received and placed in the
cupboards at the school.
The annual hot dinner November 28 was very pleasant. The husbands attended and even the weather cooperated. A highlight of the night was when Mrs. Lorraine Harris received her Lifetime Membership pin. A citation was read by president, Fairley Yeo, stating that this particular pin was given to the K WI by the Woodside family in loving memory of Mrs. Robert (Blanche) Woodside and given to Lorraine Harris, a very worthy recipient of the honour. Another important part of the evening was the presentation of the gift to Mrs. Edgar Smallman and Mrs. Albert Smallman in recognition of 51 years of service. The rest of the evening was
spent with games, chit chat and cleanup.
The Christmas meeting for 1980 was held at the home of Mrs. Foster Harris. Her spacious home was tastefully decorated inside and out in keeping with holiday season. Roll call was answered by 21 members with a Christmas poem, greeting or thought. A card of thanks was read from Tillie Dyment for the treat when she was shut in. Institute News was passed around as well as a note of thanks from a family in appreciation for the Christmas stocking given to them for the newborn baby. The card committee passed around cards and paper. It was brought to the attention of the members that the Red Cross Sale will be held December 11 and are soliciting support. Gifts wrapped beautifully were handed in for the Hillsborough Hospital and holiday box and Pennies for Friendship was circulated. Christmas gifts between the Sunshine Pals were
exchanged and names revealed, and new names were drawn for the following year. The final
