The October regular meeting of the KWI took place at the community centre. Roll call was answered by 12 members and correspondence consisted of a letter from the West Prince Advisory Board regarding a cabinet committee on rural development. It was discussed by the members. It was moved by Lorraine Harris and seconded by Joan Smallman that $5 be donated for the Sudan project. Wanda Adams reported on behalf of the hospital committee that volunteers were needed to work at the New to You shop. Also, Leila Craswell R.N. is on a committee to give suggestions for needed items in the thrift shop. It was noted that Betty Sweet, Silver Dennis, Wanda Adams and Verna Smallman attended the O’Leary Potato museum.

Meeting closed with the WI Ode and lunch was served.

President Wanda Adams opened the regular institute meeting at the community centre in November with a Remembrance Day poem. The devotional period was conducted by Betty Sweet. She chose the scripture Proverbs 10.28.29 to illustrate the value of living up to one’s responsibilities and working for the good of family and all mankind. Roll call was answered by 11 members. Correspondence consisted of Notes and News and a letter from Doreen MacGinnis of the Provincial Board regarding a communication session to be held at the Regional Services Centre on December 1. A brief which was presented to the cabinet committee on rural development was read. School committee reported that Marion Luxton had cleaned up the flower beds. Silver Dennis and Joan Smallman had removed flower boxes from entrance signs and taken down the flag. Empress McDowell and Myrtal MacWilliams reported on working at the New to You for one day and receipts amounted to $105. The business portion of the meeting included a discussion of the upcoming communications meeting at the Services Centre. Several members expressed interest in attending.
