Prior to the meal, the members were pleased to introduce guest speaker Jackie Waddell from the Island Nature Trust. She gave an interesting presentation on the birds of P.E.I. During the program, Empress gave a hilarious story entitled White Lie with a surprise ending and Eileen Smallman had a reading on memories of teachers in a one-room schoolhouse. He asked the members to have people in the community contribute pictures of bygone days. The committee met with Mr. Beck on several occasions at his office in Charlottetown. His help was invaluable. Henry Dinsmore mounted the pictures, and his services were first-rate. Four panels were completed and are displayed for the Community Centre. Also, pictures of all past presidents of Knutsford Women’s Institute, with the exception of one, were located and displayed. In September at the regular meeting, President Joan Smallman asked members to join her in one- minute silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the 911 terrorist attacks. Congratulations were offered to Barbara Sweet, who won best hand quilted quilt in show at the provincial exhibition during Old Home Week. Nine members paid their dues. Joan called the annual meeting to order. Treasurer Barbara Sweet gave a precise and detailed financial report outlining income and expenses.
