Also, a CD of the 600 photos will be sold to the public at $10 each. It was a very successful tea indeed. In September before the new slate of officers was brought in, it was moved by Fairley Yeo and seconded by Susan Smallman to give each of the five young ladies who help serve at the tea party $20. Also, a sum of money was discussed to give to Shirlene O’Brien for the rent of her equipment and overtime. And a thank you for all who contributed to the success of the 1864 Tea Party will put in the West Prince Graphic and Journal-Pioneer newspapers. For the first time ever, the Community Centre had been used in the summer months by the West Prince Arts Council and items were for sale to the public. Hospital committee member Wanda Adams reported that Alberton Hospital will have new X-ray machine installed before O’Leary Hospital. She also reported that recently the New to You had taken in the most money for one day, $400. The new slate of officers was brought in by Wanda Adams and Harriet MacNeill; President- Orell Smallman; vice president - Fairley Yeo; secretary - Betty Sweet; and treasurer - Barbara Sweet. The meeting ended with singing of the /sland Hymn and WI Grace. The October 14 regular meeting of the K WI was held at the community centre. Roll call was answered by six members with items for a grab bag. Barbara Sweet was, once again, hard at work with the potato harvest so there was no treasurer’s report. Under new business, there was a discussion on a WI cooking contest for students. A discussion regarding the fifth wall panel will take place when more members are in attendance at the next meeting. It was decided that from then on, Sunshine boxes will be packed for a member in the hospital. The thank you which was put in the paper was read and to close the meeting, members gave their reason for being thankful. In November, the regular meeting was held at the home of Susan and Garth Smallman. Eleven members answered roll call with an item for the Caring Cupboard. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Barbara Sweet gave a detailed report of income and expenses for 2014, a project which took a lot of extra work. The members were most thankful to Barbara for all her hard work and expertise. Barbara moved the adoption of her report and the motion was seconded by Harriet MacNeill. Correspondence was a thank you note from Wanda Adams for her sunshine box and another from Margaret Anne Woodside, thanking members for a successful completion of the 2014 project. 179
