- A presentation of eating on a budget for diabetes will be held at the O’Leary public library November 20.

Letters were once again circulated in the community requesting more information or photos for the fifth panel. A Christmas concert will be held December 4 and a committee was formed to plan it. Joan Smallman read a poem about her uncle, Lorne Boulter, and meeting closed with the

poem Jn Flanders Fields said in unison by all.

The Christmas K WI meeting was held at the home of Alvin and Fairley Yeo on December 9, at 2 p.m. After a Christmas devotional read by Lorraine Harris and Orell Smallman, many traditional carols were sung. Everyone brought tray favours for the patients in the O’ Leary Community Hospital. Correspondence included a card and $150 donation from Dr. Margaret Anne Woodside. Notes and News bulletin was passed around. Isobel Harris and Verna Smallman will attend planning meeting for the convention after Orell Smallman contacts West Devon WI for a date. The sum of $30,000 was realized from the New To You in 2015. Memorial cards for loved one’s are available for $5 in memory of a loved one. Sick and welcome committee sent cards to seniors in the community. The Christmas Tree lighting at the hospital is Friday, December 11, at 6:30. 21 children attended the Old-Fashioned Christmas concert at the community centre along with parents, grandparents and aunts and uncles. The children were entertained with a story from Verna Smallman called Is Christmas here yet? Then, they proceeded to the kitchen for craft making, play dough and snowmen. The centre was beautifully decorated, and the party was a great success. Some of the helpers were Gracie and Bailey Smallman and K WI members. The adults enjoyed music and songs by Shirlene O’Brien and the Marantha singers. Everyone joined in to sing carols. A delicious lunch was served while waiting for the arrival of Santa with his sack full of gifts for all the children. Darren MacKinnon played that role. Agriculture convener Fairley Yeo reported on a trip to Halifax to attend the Farm Women’s Conference of Atlantic Canada. The theme of the conference was the need to develop a plan for government so that more women could be part of focus groups, boards and committees. Members drew names for their secret pal for the year, and Isobel Harris played Santa for the members and handed out gifts from secret pals of 2015. There was a lunch of birthday cake and ice-cream cake for Betty Sweet’s birthday, and everyone enjoyed photos of the Christmas concert on Shirlene O’Brien’s

computer.
