The regular meeting of the KWI in January 2016 was held at the home of Wanda Adams. Recipes for freezer meals were passed around for all the 12 members present. Minutes from previous meeting were read and approved and all bills were paid. It was decided to ask Michelle Arsenault from Hope Center Clubhouse to be guest speaker at the Area Convention to be held February 17. Display and Memorial Offerings would be given to the Bloomfield Breakfast Program. Plans were made to meet at Verna Smallman’s house January 27 to make up new programs for 2016 and 2017. Silver Dennis thanked the members for thinking of her at Christmas with a treat and a visit. One minute of silence was observed in memory of long-time friend and highly respected member, Freda Woodside, who passed away since their last meeting.

Institute Grace was said, and members sang Auld Lang Syne.

The February regular KWI meeting was held at the home of Barbara and Frank Sweet. Joan Smallman presented the devotion titled, Today is your best day because of Love. God’s love is a giving love, restores mends and heals. Betty Sweet and Wanda Adams of the convener program gave an interesting presentation on many uses of the orange peel stop brown sugar from

hardening, make candied orange peel, and drink in tea.

Orell Smallman’s program was on quilting in the 14th century. Clothing pieces went into making the quilt and satin cushions were filled with feathers. Layered vests were made to wear under soldier’s uniforms. Hand quilting was the norm years ago, but machine quilting with 100 % cotton and cotton thread is practiced as well in recent years. Roll call was answered by 10 members reciting Valentine poems and donating items for the Caring Cupboard. Correspondence included a letter from the Board of Governors of the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation awarding the KWI with a heritage award in recognition of the history panels placed in the community centre. Their executive was invited to receive the award during a ceremony at the Eptek Arts and Cultural Centre in Summerside, P.E.I. February 16, followed by a reception and refreshments. Information on Family Violence was presented, as it was Family Violence Prevention week (February 14-20). Members and the public were encouraged to wear purple

ribbons to show support on Founders’ Day February 17.

The Spring is in the Air Gala Dinner was to be held April 15. A discussion was had regarding district convener Fairley Yeo drafting a letter concerning the hospitals in West Prince. A thank

you note was received from Heath Woodside for their devotion in remembrance of his wife and
