Hospital report was given by Betty Sweet. Paul Young attended. He said nine doctors are needed, 2.6 physio therapists, and there are 176 RN vacant positions and no ambulatory care yet. Items ordered and paid for include blood analyzer, two microscopes, three wheelchairs, floor waxer, and fridge. Community Centre report showed six members met with Kevin Adams re New Horizon grant progress. School looks great, new paint outside by Jason MacDougall. Roof needed repairs, back entry leaking. New fridge will be purchased. Kevin Adams construction has been paid. Citizen and Legislation convener Betty Sweet reported a new Lieutenant Governor for P.E.I. Antoinette Perry from Tignish. Bill 5286 was presented by Diane Griffin. Allison Sweet received a paramedic award. The Christmas Concert will be held December 7. The committee in charge will be Betty Sweet, Susan and Joan Smallman, Isobel Harris and Fairley Yeo. Two teddy bears were purchased once again for Edna Gallant’s charity in memory of her son, Chad. A thank you card will be sent to Bank of Nova Scotia for selling tickets for the 150th anniversary tea and matching the proceeds $10 for 130 tickets. The

The Christmas regular KWI meeting was held December 19th at the home of secretary Verna Smallman. Nine members answered roll call with a Christmas poem and tray favour for the O’Leary hospital. Minutes were read and approved, and correspondence included an update on computers, and in the past president and WI member’s competition. Notes and News was handed out and read by members. Fairley Yeo reported on Festival of Small Halls for 2018. June 15 will be the date; members will decide next meeting whether to take part. Betty Sweet reported for the hospital committee and said the New to You took in $2,300 for the month of November, and that more space is needed to display items. Sick and welcome committee-Betty Sweet sent seven welcome cards with invitations to the Christmas party including Chase Dyment, Carmen MacEachern, Colin Cornish family, MacKinnons and Barlows. A thank you was extended to the Christmas Party committee. H.F. Stewart made a New Before and New to You items bin placed outside Co-op. Blaine Buchanan made the sign. Fairley gave an update on the panel that will be done by March. Susan Smallman played Santa and handed out gifts from Secret Pals. They were
revealed and chosen for the next year. Meeting was adjourned and Christmas carols were sung.
