To apply for a New Horizon Grant again, a request goes in the WI minutes (motion and passed), fill out application and obtain a letter of support, (the Legion gave last time). Possible request items: six new windows, PA system, tables and chairs, a dishwasher and a insulate pump. 90th Anniversary celebration will need a committee appointed. Use of community centre will be a

donation only. Must hire someone to deep clean ($15 an hour) and Santa will cost $20.

The February K WI regular meeting was held at Barbara and Frank Sweet’s house. Betty Sweet, on behalf of Wanda Adams, delivered the convenor report: the many uses of vinegar- cooking, cleaning, as well as health benefits. For example: 2 gallon vinegar and water to wax floors; - 2 of olive oil and 4 vinegar and 2 cups of water to clean paneling; - salt and vinegar to clean faucets; - to keep ants away equal parts of vinegar, baking soda, in drain sink and; - clean the

kitchen counter.

In her conveners program Verna Smallman gave an overview of WI Caring Kitchen starter guide for branches. It will help children aging out of the foster care system to support life skills. The goals were budgeting, purchasing and cooking. Three sessions were planned including local resources. One foster mother said these youth need continued support the same as your own children, in terms of helping them make decisions about school life, boyfriends, employment and emotional skills. Roll call was answered by seven members reading a Valentine poem and items for the Caring Cupboard. Minutes were read and approved. A note was received from Ellen Rennie on finalizing the New Horizon grant 2017. The WI board of director’s strategic plan was read by the secretary, Verna Smallman, outlining the goals to lead and motivate the membership of the WI to enrich and revitalize the communities. There was a paper on resolutions formatting executive award Adelaide Hoodless. There was also an invitation from QEH, in appreciation, to attend a tour of the hospital to show how donated money was spent for hospital equipment. Plans were made for upcoming district convention 2018, February 21 at the Community Complex. Knutsford WI in charge of guest speaker, registration, welcome committee, and hospitality.
