The regular KWI meeting in February took place at the home of Fairley and Alvin Yeo. A report was given by the convention committee after the minutes were read and approved. The K WI is to be responsible for the president, secretary, display, memorial, resolutions, and fun and nonsense. There will be a memorial in honour of Geneva King. Fairley read the citation of Geneva’s involvement in the Women’s Institute, activities which were very significant contributions to the WI including receiving the diamond jubilee medal. She was married to former teacher Don King and they were parents to six children. The collection is to go to the Red Cross. The KWI members are reviewing the institute minute books and organizing the information for Margaret Sweet to type up. No school or hospital report. Betty Sweet gave the program on P.E.L. in politics. Correspondence included Women in Agriculture Award, minutes of 2018 provincial convention, application forms for P.E.I. board of directors, notice of bylaw, change, and strategic plan 2017 - 2020. Prior to the meeting, Kathleen Poirier gave suggestions on what format the KWI history could be presented, either book or binder form that could be added to at any time. She handed out organized forms to compile the information for her to put together. Orell moved the meeting adjourned, and women sang God Save the Queen in unison. The March KWI meeting had some new and old news. Debbie Atkinson, manager of the Festival of Small Halls sent word that Knutsford will be one of the venues included in the festival. Schedule will be sent out in March. The 2019 Seniors’ Secretariat application will be open from March | to April 15, 2019. April 29 is ACWW day. Each year people gather together to walk the world raising funds. Betty Sweet reported for hospital that Dr. Grimes will be leaving in 2020 and that Darlene and Eugene Gallant’s daughter has opened a psychiatric position in Summerside. New furniture for the hospital has arrived but not the bladder scanner. For program, Betty and Wanda told many hilarious jokes. Under new business, the community centre was going to host yoga sessions for seniors or anyone who would like to attend. Megan Ellis will be the teacher and offer an introductory class for beginners. In April the KWI regular meeting was held at Ken and Verna Smallman’s. Roll call was answered by seven members paying 10 cents for each mirror in their home and an Easter poem. No date has yet been set for Small Hall Festival. Correspondence included Roadside Cleanup and contest will be May 11-19. A thank you card was received from Eva, Stella, and Doris for inviting them to the area 2 convention when Geneva King was honoured. Education Scholarship 209
