The committee is looking for capital money for solar panels. Jordan MacDonald has been working with the project. He is a graduate of the mentor program with StFX University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Plans for the building included three stories high with elevator, 50 units with bedroom and bath. A fundraising campaign is underway, with letters being sent to each home for donations. Roll call was answered by six members telling soldier’s war stories. Yoga has been successful with four sessions and two more before it ends. The annual Christmas party was cancelled due to Covid 19. Fairley Yeo reported they have secured someone to write the KWI history and members were happy to have Gena Yeo offer to do it. Some of the programming has begun with the yoga classes. Correspondence included Support Survivors ACSW Purple Ribbon Campaign for 2021. Buttons will be distributed at a bake sale, at the new community centre November 21. Convener reports: Citizen and Legislative, Betty Sweet talked about Simons Medal being awarded to people who have made an extraordinary contribution to Canadian life. Some past recipients were Bob Rae, Canada Ambassador to United Nations, Justin Trudeau in 2017, Paul Gross, Steven Lewis, Prince Charles 2014, Paul Martin, David Suzuki 2010. John Martin praised Jordan MacDonald for his work with senior’s community care facility filling out forms and talking with government. Jordan was the recipient of the Governor General Medal at Westisle. He took science at StFX University and Master of Sciences in Capacity Development and extension at Guelph University.
