PAGE FIVE Our space by Graphic staff Car fever hits the Graphic Car fever has hit the office. All four of us have made a car change in the last few weeks. I was the last to succumb to the fever. Betsy (my mode of travel for the last 12 years) has found anew home. My new (to me) car has been named Molly and I took possession of her last Wednesday. It took me almost the whole afternoon to transport 12 years of accumulated items from one car to the other. I did try to elimi- nate some of the items, but only managed to reduce the num- ber of pens from nine to two. Everything else was essential, at least I think so. One must be prepared for any type of emer-' ency. 4 Betsy was a five-speed standard and Molly is an automatic. I have to keep telling myself no clutch, no clutch. I have been _ known to forget when driving someone else’s (automatic) car and can unwittingly stop on a dime - two feet on a brake works wonders when are: especially when you're used to putting the clutch to the floor. I'm sure I won't be long getting used to not having to shift and to remember that one foot can now rest easy. I even have cruise control. I did notice on Saturday, when I took in the home tours in Knutsford, that I tried a couple of times to find the gear shift on the floor. A minor detail. The tour was wonderful, by the way, and the tea at the Knutsford schoolhouse was exceptional. I enjoyed every minute of my day. — Hazel Easter 239 as os en eo
