DEBBIE HORNE/THE JOURNAL-PIONEER
A group of students who attended Knutsford elementary school in the 1930s and 1940s who stili live in or near the district gather for a class photo, a reminder of the past and what's to come later in August. Former students from that period will be meeting again for a class reunion. In the back row, from the left. are some of the former students: Lorraine (MacNeill) Harris, Lawrence Harris, Jean (MacNeill) Meggison and Heath Woodside. In the next row are James MacDonald, Claire MacNeill and Bill Meggison. In the following row are Grenfell Gay, Marion (Adams) Luxton, Florence (Adams) MacNevin and Eileen Smaliman. in the front row are Isabel (Sweet) Harris, Freda (Smaliman) Woodside and Anita (Smaliman) Gamble. They will be meeting for their first class reunion with their former teachers on Aug. 27.
KNUTSFORD -- The old school bell at Knutsford elementary school will be ringing again Aug. 27 as students from the 1930s and ‘40s return to the school to meet again and reminisce about old times.
They will also have a rare opportunity to get re-acquainted with their former teachers, Ruth (Campbell) Herlihy and Sadie (Ramsay) Jones, who will be in attendance.
The idea of the reunion was spearheaded by former student Olga (Harris) Donald. Because she lives out of province and couldn't look after all the details that are involved, members of the Knutsford Women's Institute, which now owns and maintains the former school building that now serves as the community centre, have been helping out.
The reunion will be taking place from 2-4 p.m. Anyone who attended the school prior to 1930 is also invited to attend.
A list of the students under the instruction of Mrs. Herlihy and Mrs. Jones between 1936-1944, who will hopefully be present for the roll call, are Florence Adams, Lila Adams, Lorne Adams, Marion Adams, Heber Ellis, Evelyn Gay, Grenfell Gay, Marion Gay, Marjorie Gay, Audrey Harris,
