History of Sea View w.A.
It was during the period when Bey.Hobert Coufilafid Was Reotor of New London Parish.that the anglican ladies of Sea View were encouraged to form a Women'sAuxiliary,a second branch for St. Stephens Church. Burlington. It was through the persuasion and eneouragement of Mrs. J.G.wansend.Kensington.and Rev. Mr. Coupland that this organization became established. It was for this purpose that Mrs.w.E.Champion,Mrs. Bell. and Miss Harris of Charlottetown.aocompanied by Mrs..J;G.Townsend.Kensin¢ton, met at the home of Mrs..;Eddie Murphy. Sea View .in July .1952. Onlv three members attended this neeting.Encouraged by Mrs. Champion not to be discouraged.a group was formed;‘Later four members joined making a total of seven members the first year.Membership in later
yearsincreased to eleven..
Mrs. Wallace Adams was elected as the first President and remained
in this office until the mnfiégfiafia int-the early 1970's...
In 1953 a Little Helper ' sBranch was organized with Mrs.Buddy Brander as leader. As families with small children left the district .it was found necessary to dilsband for lack of members but was re-organized in 1957 with Mrs..Lei5hton Coulson as leader-
In 19st a Junior Auxiliary group was organized by Mrs..Jelks with Mrs. Eddie Murphy and Mrs. Horace SteWart as leaders. These J.A. girls later passed along to G.A. as G.AL.Links..
In September.1955. the Sea View H.A.ehosted a joint meeting of all
the W.A.groups of the New London Parish..
For several years following World War ## this branch generously supported the Valija Souer familly, a refugee family in Germany. In 1962 they entertained the A.Y.P.A. for their Annual Meeting Banquet. In the early 1970's this W,A. group disbanded and some of the members
joined the other A.C.W. broup of St. Stephen's Church,Burlington.
