ihe‘following tribute to Mrs.Waldo Matthews.nee helen Tanton was written by Eileen Oulton.

Six months ago Helen Matthews went out west.and for six months many people in Alberton and for miles around have been trying to get along without her. She came home Monday and on Tuesday was laid to rest in St.Peter‘e

Anglican Church Cemetry.

She was a friend to little children,to the e1der1y.the shut-in.the poor

and the needy. For forty years, rain shine she taught your child and mine in Sunday school.A number of those are she collected the children in her little red caruFor recreation she took the older person.the shut-in or someone without a car for a drive.Hard working.unassuming.and uncomplaining she demonstrated in her own life that she was aware of Man’s basic need.to be loved, accepted, and understood.

It is said that when'one door closes another one opened, who can.or who will open the door to replace Helen Matthews? :

That was in I966 and it is new Mareh.I973;we former mothers of St.Peter's Alberton W.A' feel no one has been able to take Helen Matthews place.
