ST. ELIZABETH 'S ANGLICAN CHURCH WOMEN , Woman's Work in St. Elizabeth's Church in Springfield was begun with a Junior Branch of the Woman's Auxiliary formed November 21, 1908. The following information has been gleaned from the record book of that period: "On Saturday, November 28, 1908, at the residence of Mrs. Robert Haslam a meeting was held to organize a branch of the Junior Auxiliary of the Woman's Auxiliary of Prince Edward Island . The following officers were elected: Superintendent -- Miss Tillie Haslam Secretary -- Miss Florence Haslamr Treasurer -- Miss Agnes Haslam , with five members. The meeting opened with a hymn and a prayer. It was decided to hold meetings on Saturday afternoons, the first Saturday of each month to be devoted to the study, etc. of missions. Muriel Haslam paid in her fee of five cents. After the branch was organized members began work on a bale of clothing, etc. for Dr. Grenfell 's Mission in Labrador ;" All the weekly meetings were held at Stone Cottage, the home of the Superintendent and Secretary . After the opening exercises which consisted of a hymn and prayers, the young members sewed on articles for the bale until 4:15 when the meeting closed with prayer. The Roll Call records the following members: Emily, Penzie and Ruth Howard; Mary, Hilda, Muriel, Ada, Daisy, and Amelia Haslam ; Emma MacKay ; Lillian Matheson ; Ethel Chappell ; Janie Dunning ; and Blanche Folland .
