Preface This outline of the history of Saint John's Church is a promise of a more complete acc¬ ount which is to follow. It has been rush¬ ed into print for the summer of the Centen¬ nial of Confederation year, 1967. I am indebted to many persons and various sources for the information contained in these pages* Mrs. Annie Pond , ..Mrs, Harry C, Andrew, Miss Joan Compton , Major T. Edgar MacNutt, dr~, R.V. Harris and others. Among old publications which were found helpful are The Charlottetown Royal Gazette , The Charlotte*own Guardian, The Halifax Church Times, Church Work, as well as the reminis¬ cences of Huber* Compton (grandson of Col¬ onel Harry Compton ) and others, I shall be most grateful to hear of other sources of information concerning the early days of both the Church and the Village, which might be helpful in compiling a com¬ plete history. The story^of Saint John's is one of dedic¬ ated missionaries and pioneering people who carved out a home and worshipped God in an untamed place. They are worthy to be re¬ membered by us who are heirs to their her¬ itage, both material and spiritual. Robert C, Tuck Summerside, P.E.I ,
