BELL, George Hamilton (1873-1928) was the younger brother of Malcolm Bell . George purchased the Dixon farm in the 1890fs, the corner property where Sylvia Simpson Bell and her son Alan now live. George then married Margaret Boyce and they had two children, Ada Bell and John L. Bell (1903-1927). Margaret died of tuberculosis soon after giving birth to her son John L . in 1903. Fearing for his childrenfs health and the possible presence of T.B ., George and the children abandoned the house never to live in it again. George then married his second wife, Ethel MacLean , the daughter of Angus MacLean and Catherine Walker . George and Ethel eventually took over the MacLean family farm which was located on the west side of the South Melville Road, where the Scantleburys now live, (this farm dates back to John MacLeans arrival from Scotland in 1820). George and Ethel had four children: Irene, Viola, Meville and Edwin. George and Ethel died in 1928 and 1969 respectively. BELLf Irene (b. 1908) married Judson Rackham and they live in Fredericton , P.E.I. They have three children: Roma, Brenda and Howard. BELL, Viola (1910-1970) married Harold Buntain and moved to Wheatley River . Viola and Harold had two children: Robert and Joan. BELL, Melville G. (b. 1913) began farming at the age of 15 after his father's death. In 1937 Melville married Helen MacWilliams , the daughter of John MacWilliams and Mabel MacKay of Albany , P.E.I. Melville operated the MacLean/Bell farm for many years before eventually going to work with the P.E.I. Lending Authority where he remained for 20 years. Melville also sold insurance and for many years operated an auctioneering business. Melville's wife, Helen, along with her friend Eva Ince started the first Women's Institute in DeSable way back in 1948. Helen is a lifetime member of the Women's Institute. Melville and Helen have three children: Deanna, Lois and Norma.
