POST OFFICE - The first Post Office in DeSable
was established sometime between 1852.~.l855 at
the home of a Mr. Mackinnon near the_site 6: the school. Mail fras bnariottetown 55s delivered to the .Post Office on Monday and Friday;
Meacham's Atlas 1880 names John Dixon as Postmastér at entrance to Todd Road. Postmaster of 1900, situated just east of school, was John MacDougall, a
rather snuffy old soot, known to his neighbours as
"The Pepper Box".
Rural delivery service came to the district from Charlottetown in 1913 when the last office - Mrs.
J. D. MacFarlane as Postmistress, was closed out.
'Little' Neil MacNevin, a veteran mail driver, and John McManus of Bonshaw were the first couriers on
the new rural service, followed later by William
McManus.
These were dedicated men who rezarded the delivery
