• 28 - Murchison, Bonshaw : approximately eighty years after the first school had been established. Those present would not forget the frightening shock, like unto an earthquake, that shook the old school on the morning of December 6th, 1917 - when a munition ship loaded with 5000 tons of explosives blew up in Halifax harbour. Some of our number said fearfully, that it was the end of the world, or the beginning of the end, but the majority decided that, with a great war on, we were under fire from a German Warship in Northumber¬ land Strait.
