The brook flowing through the valley nearby. was

a wonderous and fascinating Place for generations of boys. 0n the banks of this 'crik' we ate our school lunch and afterward built dame. fished trout,

and sometimes sailed little boats and fireehipe.

In winter we skated there with our Acme spring

skates and scooped amelts out or the water after the

ice melted in April.

The school drinking water was carried from a deep spring far down the left bank below the bridge. Down here was a great wooden water wheel built in 1902,

which pumped spring water up to the MacFarlane farm

buildings.
