On the banks of this •crik1 we ate our school lunch and afterward built dams, fished trout, and sometimes sailed little boats and firsships. In winter we skated there with our Acme spring skates and scooped smelts out of the water after the ice melted in April. The school drinking water was carried from a deep spring far down the left bank below the bridge. Down here was a great wooden water wheel built in 1902, which pumped spring water up to the MacParlane farm buildings. .>
