At a Parish meeting on March 29, 1880 it was moved by William Hapgood and seconded by Thomas Dougherty that the building committee sell the old parsonage house at public auction. Pictured above is the second parsonage to be erected on the parsonage farm. It was the home of rectors R.T. Dobie, H.P. Higgenson, T.B. Reach, Henry Harper, and Rev. J.J. Bamford. The latter had the honor of being the first resident of the present rectory adjacent to St. James’ Church. When this third rectory was completed in 1915, the parsonage farm was sold to Hugh Maynard for $2725. It was later purchased by Hatfield and Marguerite Maynard. Today the "second" rectory is the home of Rev. and Mrs. John Montgomery. Rev. Montgomery was rector of Port Hill Parish during the years 1974-1977. Along with the two rectories built on the parsonage farm, it is believed that a small church was erected there several years ago. According to a Port Hill resident, Mr. Collingwood Yeo (1873—1966), this community had had a church which was in ruins when he was a boy. A field on the farm, known as the "church field", was quite likely the location of this first church of the Parish of Port Hill.
