The rectory under construction.

The following detailed description of the new rectory is taken from a newspaper article submitted by one of the parishioners (Neither the name of the writer nor the newspaper is

available):

The material used was of best quality. All rough lumber was supplied by Mr. Joseph MacKinnon of Grand River, who has an abundance of the old growth of lumber. The cellar foundation is of concrete, and the entire size of the building. The mechanical work was all done by skilled workmen, five of the men being previous contractors not only in this province but in different parts of the United States and Canada. The ground floors and stairs are of hardwood and the wainscotting in kitchen, bathroom and porch is of Douglas fir. A grate set in tiles and a beautiful mantel is in the study for the comfort of heating in the spring and fall. There are seven large built posts on the verandah and seven very large turned posts on the balcony which gives the front a very massive and beautiful appearance. The gutters are of cypress, and the eaves are beautifully decorated with seventy brackets. The plastering was done by Mr. Cushing of Summerside and the steam heating, plumbing and sewerage system was installed by Messrs. Morrison & MacDonald of Summerside. They say it is one of their up-to—date jobs. The contract of painting was done by Messrs. Thompson & Schurman, and the graining under the personal supervision of Mr. Crozier.
