Over the years parishioners have endeavoured to keep the rectory in good repair. Parish records make several references to painting, shingling, and general repairs. The original plumbing and heating systems were replaced in later years. Electricity was brought to this beautiful home in 1955, while the following year both a new water system and septic tank were installed. As a result of fire damage early in 1976, the kitchen was remodelled. Walls which enclosed the original pantry were removed and new cupboards were built.

A major renovation was carried out in 1988 to create a Parish Memorial Centre in the rectory basement. Under the chairmanship of Henry Birch, the Parish Property Committee drew up plans to build an addition to the east side of the building. The upper level of this addition provides space for an entry, cloak room, washroom, and for storage. A kitchenette is housed in the lower level of the extension.

By relocating the furnace and hot water heater, installing new duct work, and lowering the basement floor, over 900 square feet of space was procured. The area created has proven most convenient for Christian education, youth work, meetings of council, Bible study, fellowship groups, and special functions.

Archdeacon W.J. Moore officiated at the dedication of the Parish Memorial Centre on April 9, 1989, and paid compliments to the members of Port Hill Parish for "their thoughtful approach to the project and the diligence in bringing it to completion". The Rector, Rev. Barbara Minard, assisted Archdeacon Moore in a ribbon cutting to officially open the Centre

which was dedicated to the memory of many parishioners now deceased.
