REV. A. FREEMAN TRAVERSE 1921 1926

After a period of service in the army, Rev.A.F. Traverse entered Wycliffe College in Toronto, graduating from there in 1920. Later that year he arrived in the Parish of Port Hill where he boarded at the home of James Yeo. Rev. Traverse moved into the rectory the following year after his marriage to Pearle Akerley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Akerley of King’s County, P.E.I.

Rev. Traverse’s first report to the Diocesan Church Society follows:

I came to the Parish on September 8th 1921, and was delighted to find that

interest in the Church and her work had not died, even though the people had had

the sad experience of being some months without a Clergyman. I have found a

people filled with interest and enthusiasm; with which all things are possible;

without which, nothing can be done. So enthusiastic have our people become

concerning the Church property that a substantial beginning has been made towards furnishing the Rectory.
