Christmas we were married) John W. said, "Would you like a little refreshment? " I said, "Thank you very much," and he brought me in a glass of something and said, "I couldn’t get anything from the vendor’s, but this is the best we got." And I don’t remember going upstairs!"

REV. G.M. ANDREWS 1942 - 1942

Rev. G.M. Andrews was in the Parish of Port Hill for only a few weeks. His young wife remained in Newfoundland to await the birth of their first child before‘coming to the Parish. However, Mrs. Andrews died at childbirth. Mr. Andrews gave up the ministry in Port Hill Parish and returned to care for his infant daughter. His successor, Rev. D.F. Henderson, reported to the Diocesan Church Society in 1942 that:

During Mr. Andrews’ short ministry here much was accomplished, especially in

the achievement of over $300.00 in arrears in pension assessment. This was

made possible through a dollar for dollar grant from the DOS.

Sometime after Rev. G.M. Andrew’s ministry in Port Hill, he became a padre to the

Seaman’s Mission in Halifax.

REV. F. DOUGLAS HENDERSON 1942 - 1945 Rev. F. Douglas Henderson and his wife, Neveta, remained in the Parish of Port Hill for three years. After three months in the Parish, he forwarded the following information to the

Diocesan Church Society:

On October lst I began my ministry here. The first task that confronted me was the paying of our Missionary Apportionment. Through the kind cooperation of all concerned this was made possible, and our Parish deserves congratulations on this feat.

Much thanks must go out to the different organizations of the Parish in their cheerful acceptance of their new Rector. The W.A., which has paid its apportionment in full, gave the Rector a hearty welcome. The A.Y.P.A., whose numbers seem to be on the increase, has given much fellowship to us all. The faithful choir has made possible many successful services in the Church, especially that of the Carol Service the Sunday after Christmas.
