Rev. Leslie A. Dignan wrote a special prayer for use by United Nations Forces.
Canadian Press reported the following:
Capt. Leslie A. Dignan, 48, of Port Hill, P.E.I., Protestant chaplain with the Canadian troops at Rafah, Egypt, has written a special prayer for Canadian troops serving with the UN emergency force.
Army headquarters said yesterday that the prayer, which has been adopted by Protestant troops, goes like this: "0 Lord God, high and mighty, who does’t Thy will in the army of heaven and amongst the inhabitants of the earth; stretch forth the shield of Thy protection over those who serve in the United Nations
Emergency Force for the cause of peace. Lead and guide them by Thy counsel; strengthen and defend them with Thy might; that they may steadfastly continue an honor and protection to the people; and that under Thy governance they may be called to no service but the just and peaceable maintenance of order; through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
