REV. HARRY LAMBERT MCCALL 1959 — 1962 Rev. Harry Lambert McCall, son of Thomas James and Annie Lake (Cole) McCall, was born September 13, 1906 in Carlisle, England. He was married in 1940 to Gladys Winifred (Winnie) Vass who died in January 1973. They had five children: Hilary Ruth, born in 1940; Barbara Angela, born in 1946; Christine Mary, born in 1948; Neil Edward James, born in 1953; Nicola Elizabeth, died at birth in 1961 and was buried in St. James’ Cemetery, Port Hill. Rev. McCall, A.K.C., Dip.Th., B.A. received his early education in Carlisle and studied for the ministry at Clifton Theological College, Bristol, England. He was ordained in 1939 in Chelmsford Cathedral, and thus began his ministry. From 1945 to 1956 he served as a chaplain in the Royal Air Force and the British Army. He came to Canada in 1959 and was rector of Port Hill Parish for three years before returning to England in 1962. Five years later he returned to Canada and ministered in Marion Bridge, Cape Breton, until his retirement in 1979. He began duties as a supply minister at Advocate Harbor, Nova Scotia in 1981, and remained in this position until his death in August of the following year. 89
