Rev. McCall’s daughter Christine, who provided the above information, advised that, "Although his time was short on Prince Edward Island, he had many fond memories of there, and made many good friends". In his 1960 report to the Diocesan Church Society, Rev. McCall commented on the fire that swept through the Parish during the summer of that year: The writer will retain in his memory for many years the beautiful summer evening of the Sunday before fire swept over the Parish. By next evening several people were homeless and many more were being, or were to be, threatened. The hectic days that followed, the work of Red Cross helpers, canteen volunteers, Army and Fire Brigade personnel and a host of helpers, men and women, are all recorded history. Our people are deeply appreciative of all the help given so willingly and generously. In addition to the material help given, the Diocese and Deanery contributed liberally to the Official Relief Fund and to our Parish Fund also. The Diocesan gift of $200. dollars was divided, $100. going to each fund. The Deanery contributed almost $400. dollars to the Parish Fund. It is gratifying to record that the Parish Fund was able to give financial help to several victims of the Fire Disaster before the larger fund was able to begin its work. REV.
